We provide holistic education that enables the girl child to develop into a well-groomed person

Handmaids Girls Secondary School Kuje, Abuja was established on 27th September 2008 with Sr. Agnes Ijoko as the founding principal. The school is located at Sauka Extension village of Kuje area council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.

Nestled among rich farmland and rolling wooded hills, HGSS is surrounded by calm green area and trees of multiple species. This peaceful environment obviously stimulates creative thinking and learning.
Over the years, the school has steadily grown with addition of more students, staff and more structures built with adequate attention to physical aesthetics. The school has many opportunities for growth and development which appeal to the total person.

We provide holistic education that enables the girl child to develop into a well-groomed person who is capable of cooperating with people to contribute her service to the socio-political, economic and spiritual development of her nation and the world at large.
In line with the requirements of education in FCT the school has been fully accredited. The school has recorded remarkable performance in both senior and junior external examinations (WAEC and NECO) respectively.
Aside constant good performance academically, the school has earned itself with awards, trophies, laurels, medals, plagues and certificates of excellence at both internal and external competitions.

Eight sets of students have graduated with excellent grades from the school and some have graduated from universities and married while some are in universities at home and abroad. Reports of those who graduate from here reaching us confirm they are doing marvelously well. We have an engaged P.T.A and alumni network which offers expertise and support to the school and students. The school has professional and dedicated members of staff with passion for excellence that excites the students to excel in their diversified potentials.

In character, HGSS she has her identity which could be perceived from her distinguished character as a Catholic Secondary School according to Handmaids instructional tradition. This is also seen in her physical appearance. Her spiritual and moral atmosphere, insistence on academic discipline and her earnest invitation to her community members to love and service.

Holistic Catholic Education

The Catholic Advantage

A Catholic education is unlike any other learning experience. Why? Catholic Schools educate to develop the whole child.
The educational process is an opportunity to cultivate the entire person by engaging the human need for physical, mental, social, and spiritual nourishment. It is the mission of Catholic Schools to do just that.
Catholic Schools understand the multi-faceted nature of child development and are heavily invested in the wellbeing of their students.

At a Catholic School, education is more than just a requirement or a means to prevent truancy. It is an occasion to celebrate learning, develop talents, create lifelong bonds, and to love and serve God every day.
